Become a volunteer Town Guide

Do you have an interest in local history? Are you passionate about Rugby town and its heritage? Are you a good communicator, outgoing and friendly? We are looking for volunteers to join our existing award-winning group of Rugby Town Guides.
 

What's Involved:

You will be leading walking tours around Rugby Town Centre, showcasing landmarks and sharing facts with visitors and residents alike. Training and uniform will be provided. Tasks include:

  • Delivering local history walking tours around Rugby Town Centre, leading small groups

  • Ensuring tours are accessible and inclusive, being mindful of the needs of the group.

  • Communicating facts and responding to questions, being knowledgeable about the town’s history and willing to expand your knowledge

  • Learning from and sharing ideas with other Town Guides, occasionally attend meetings

Who can get involved?

Candidates should:

  • Be over 18 years of age

  • Have an interest or desire to learn about Rugby and its history and heritage

  • Have good communication skills, be outgoing and friendly, confident sharing stories to visitors of all ages

  • Be organised and able to manage their own time
     

Location: Varied, mainly outdoors

Time Commitment: As needed. Initial training (approximately two days a week for 5 weeks from late September 2024, dates to be confirmed) plus availability to lead regular and bespoke tours throughout the year. Regular tours are held in spring and summer.
